Voyage on the Curonian Lagoon Complicated questions often have simple answers. If you’ve been racking your brains over corporate holiday with a difference, bother no more. Here’s a simple solution: voyage on the Curonian Lagoon

A green coastline on the one side and impressive sand dunes on the other; fishermen trawling their nets; the yell of seagulls and the feeling of freedom… You are on board the ship across the Curonian Lagoon, the Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea.

All who want to escape from the city bustle and look for new impressions are invited to take a relaxing trip with an opportunity to admire the romantic small towns and villages scattered along the coast, visit the delta of the biggest Lithuanian river Nemunas and have a glimpse at the life of local people.

The Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea have always been an inseparable part of the life of the people living near the seaside. The natural conditions prevailing on the Curonian Spit determined its unique cultural development: the traditions, trades, and architectural style. The Curonian Spit is a region famous for its huge sand dunes, excellent beaches, pinewoods, and the neat settlements of fishermen still cherishing old fishing traditions.

The Mingė village located in the Nemunas Delta is another attractive place known for its interesting landscape. With the only ‘street’ being the river, and the only means of communication, the boat, Mingė is often called the Lithuanian Venice. Tourists are also invited to Uostadvaris lighthouse to admire a panoramic view of the Kniaupas Bay and the confluence of the rivers Nemunas and Minija. The Nemunas Delta is known as the largest gathering place of water birds in the Baltic Sea region.

Among some other tourist attractions in the Nemunas Delta area are the old water boosting station, which was built a hundred years ago, and the ethnographic museum. On the tourists’ request, the crew of the ship can prepare a small picnic featuring tasty dishes from fish. Before the ship leaves back to the place where the voyage began, fishing fans can try their luck for trout in the waters of the settlement Kintai where the caught fish will be fried on the spot for a small charge.

What better for corporate holiday than a trip offering food for your spirit (and stomach too): the discovery of a foreign country, its ancient style villages with their local attractions, breath-taking views, and the appetising smell of frying fish…
