Corporate event programmes Quick spins, plastic bents, jolly jumps, graceful glide, movement full of character and emotion – dance shows performed by professionals are always a sight, so mesmerising and exciting. A dance is a piece of art with its own history, aesthetics, and code.

Dance is one of the oldest forms of art. It can be found in every culture and is performed for a variety of purposes ranging from the ceremonial, magical, and liturgical to the theatrical, social, and aesthetic. Rock-shelter drawings in India revealing the earliest examples of dance belong to the period from 5000 to 2000 B. C. Many ballroom dances popular today have evolved from tribal dances into folk dances. Later on they were stylized and refined by innovations in choreography and technique.

Many of the familiar waltz tunes can be traced back to simple peasant yodelling melodies, and the weller, or turning dances, were danced by peasants in Austria and Bavaria; meanwhile many Latin American rhythms such as rumba were imported from Africa with the black slaves.

They say that the story of Tango started with the gauchos of Argentina. Gauchos wore chaps stiffened from the foam and sweat of the horse’s body; hence they walked with their knees flexed. Gauchos used to go to the nightclubs and ask the local girls to dance. As the gaucho hadn’t showered, the lady would dance in the crook of the man’s right arm, keeping her head back. Her right hand was held low on his left hip, near his pocket, seeking for a payment for dancing with him. The man danced in a curving manner since the floor was small and littered with round tables, so he was forced to dance around and between them.

A dance is a text, each movement a sign expressing emotion or attitude towards the partner. Dance is often a story of love and passion, devotion and pride. Every dance has its own character: tango – temperamental and passionate, waltz – romantic and elegant, quickstep – lively and playful…

Dance is an inseparable part of our social life and culture. As a kind of art, dance shows can be great for corporate entertainment. They can well fit in various corporate event programmes such as informal corporate parties and gala dinners, awards ceremonies or business conventions. If you look for something to keep your guests entertained, let a dance show be the highlight of your corporate event.
