Horse-riding A dog is surely a good man’s friend, but a horse is not worse. It can be a pastime friend, a helper in farming, the source of income (as in horse racing business), a silent companion and a sensitive therapist. Admittedly, Egyptian chariots pulled by horses were replaced by tanks, and remote missiles in modern warfare are far more effective than a cavalry was in the past. In farming, horses were replaced by tractors; meanwhile horse trams by electric trams and buses. However, the horse may play an important role in modern man’s life too.

Firstly, horse-riding is known to be good for man’s health. It has been noticed that horse-riding is useful for the health of handicapped people. Riding a horse, though very gradually, strengthens body muscles and improves physical health in general. As horse-riding provides a good exercise for waist and leg muscles, riding helps people with motion disabilities develop motor skills.

Horses also proved useful in psychotherapy. Although there is no unified theory concerning horse therapy and its methods, it is true that horse-riding has a positive effect on the emotional state of the rider. Even being with the horse helps people having psychological problems to restore emotional balance and wellbeing.
Corporate weekend with horses
Horse-riding is ideal for those who want to change their usual environment, for example that of the office, hospital, etc.

Horses may also be used in professional training. In Europe and the USA, special programmes aimed at improving managing skills have been created. It is believed that horse-riding and horse care make a useful practice as managers learn to be attentive and sensitive to the animal, and through practice with horses – to people.

As a kind of entertainment, horse-riding may support corporate goals as well. When built around travel, a corporate weekend with horses is a wonderful reward for top performers. Corporate breaks spent with horses may be organized to provide a relaxing period for hard-working employees. As a kind of sport and therapy, leisure time with horses will improve employees’ physical and emotional wellbeing. A programme involving horse-riding is a great way to entertain clients.

All in all, the company of the horse may wonderfully improve the quality of people’s everyday lives: horse riding may be a therapy, a leisure time activity, a lesson in communication with people, a gift as well as part of corporate entertainment.
