More than 20 years ago paintball became one of the most popular field games. The original paintball gun was manufactured and used by farmers and ranchers for marking trees and livestock, but today, in many countries all over the world paintball is a kind of sport enjoyed by both men and woman regardless of their age and way of life. Lithuania is not an exception. Paintball is becoming more and more popular among people keen on sports as well as holiday makers who prefer team activities. Paintball is quite simple and fun. In this game each player has a gun that fires gelatin capsules filled with a water-soluble marking dye. If you're shot and marked, you're out of the game and have to wait until the next one begins. The most widespread variant is two teams at opposite ends of a playing field, each with a flag hung at 'home base.' The aim is to go get the other team's flag and bring it back to your base. When you encounter people on the other team, you try to tag them out before they get you. What is more, there are different paintball games for beginners and for experienced paintballers. Paintball is a team game which requires wits and determination rather than physical strength. Quick reaction and the ability to make rapid decisions are essential. Moreover, it is an exciting and entertaining sport game. Paintball can be a real adventure for adrenalin seekers and those who are tired of daily routine. Most probably because of the opportunity to feel the rush of adrenaline and to get rid of negative emotions during the game, some enthusiasts find this kind of sport even addictive. As a team game, paintball helps to develop skills of working in team. It also encourages the desire to improve your own abilities in order to achieve shared goals. In Lithuania, various paintball clubs organize tournaments entertaining and sports paintball tournaments for companies, organizations, and individuals. The clubs offer equipment rent (markers (the guns), most often pumps, semi-automatic and automatic, and protective equipment: safety masks, gloves, neck and knee protectors, etc.). Many clubs also provide food facilities. After the tournament, the guests can refresh themselves at a bar. Some bars will deliver the food right to the ‘battle field’ and attend to the participants on request. If necessary, paintball clubs will train how to use paintball equipment, offer interesting scenarios and tasks, and teach various intricacies of the game. If you are going to spend your holidays in Lithuania, think about paintball. It can be one of the most extreme holiday activities which you will never forget.
